MEMBERS \\ THE FANS View List [pop-up] ABOUT \\ THE FANLISTING An anime fanlisting aims to gather as many fans of a particular anime and/or manga subject from all over the world in just one list. The network's website is currently located at http://www.animefanlistings.org. This site is the fanlisting for all genres of fanfiction (fiction works created by fans) written on Hirano Kouta's creation Hellsing. It was named after the catchy and memorable ending theme song of the anime, Shine performed by Mr. Big. The website has been online since 15 July 2010. HELLSING \\ THE STORY Thanks to Anime Universe! "In the name of God, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation. Amen." With these words as their motto, the Hellsing Organization is sworn to protect the House of England from the spawn that walks the night--and they have been doing so since the time of Adam van Helsing, who is a hero in Bram Stoker's groundbreaking book Dracula. Hellsing was originally a Japanese shounen (boy-oriented) manga created by Hirano Kouta. In 2001, it was adapted into an anime series made up of, to date, thirteen [13] episodes. The Western/American version of the anime was released by Pioneer Entertainment. Hellsing is a stylish, classy, and action-packed vampire thriller. Even though the subject has been covered many times both in anime and live action movies, Hellsing presents a new and refreshing look at the subject. Hellsing follows the story of Alucard (Dracula spelled backwards, if you still haven't noticed), a vampire who is working for the Hellsing Organization, a special group loyal to the Queen of England whose duty it is to protect the country from "FREAKS," a corrupted breed of genetically-altered vampires and zombies. Alucard's reasons for working for Hellsing are not totally clear, and much of his background remains mysterious. Unlike other vampires who fight vampires, Alucard is not interested in saving humans or redeeming himself. He clearly sees himself and other true vampires as above humans and feels nothing about killing humans, as long as Hellsing's leader Sir Integra Hellsing, or Integral, allows him. The other main character of the series is Seras Victoria, the sole "survivor" of a police assault on a village that had been turned into zombies by a vampire. In the final confrontation, Alucard is forced to mortally wound her to kill the vampire, but offers her a chance to become like him. She accepts, and becomes Hellsing's second vampire agent, despite the reservations of Integral and the rest of its human members. Seras has a great deal of trouble coming to grips with her new nature, not believing her own super strength and enhanced senses. She tries to resist her vampiric nature and refuses to drink the blood that is given to her. Seras and Alucard almost opposites of each other, he casually drinks blood, delights in killing and has disdain for humanity. The plot involves a great conspiracy, where artificial vampires are being created by mysterious microchips implanted inside them. Much more about the plot is revealed toward the end, and two major enemies for Alucard are introduced: Incognito and Alexander Anderson. Incognito is a sadomasochistic vampire working for the shadowy figures behind the vampire-chips. He is at his best in the last few episodes of the anime, and his fight with Alucard is the climax of said series. Alexander Anderson is a Paladin for the Vatican's Iscariot Division, a group of holy warriors who fill much the same function as Hellsing, but for the Roman Catholic nations of the world. Anderson hates Hellsing, for its Protestantism, and Alucard for what he is. It might seem that a mere human like Anderson is no match for Alucard at first, but he has a few tricks op his sleeves. The anime has four major arcs: Impure Souls, Blood Brothers, Search and Destroy and Eternal Damnation. The opening theme Logos Naki World is performed by Yasushi Ishii and the ending song Shine is by Mr. Big. The series was directed by Umanosuke Iida and Yasunori Urata. This layout is named Trinity because there are three characters featured in the design, not to mention the fact that, together, Integral [The Master], Alucard [The Servant] and Walter [The Warrior] form the core trinity that makes The Hellsing Organization a force to be reckoned with. From a more religion-inclined perspective, Integral is the Son/Child, Alucard the (un)Holy Ghost and Walter the Father, based on the allusions that their roles represent.
